What I know is that if your one year commission is over C$30,000, then you should be collecting (charging) the HST based on your commission.
This requires you to register with CRA to get your HST number. After you are registered, all your commission invoices should charge HST.

Consultant To A U.S. Supplier by: Mark
I have a consulting company in Ontario and just got a US contract in Canadian funds to provide sales support to its Canadian customers.
Do I need to charge the US company HST or not? They will be supplying me with a 1099 at the end of the contract. I am only providing training and support.
