Accountants Copy of over 200mb books ... and mysterious password
When the books are too large, instead of being able to email, the Accountants Copy must be saved as a file, (say, on a USB), then given to the Accountant who Opens and Converts the Accountants Copy transfer file. At no time is there an option or a demand to create a password.
However when I try to open and convert the file, this message comes up....
"When this file was sent to the Intuit Accountants Copy file transfer server, it was encrypted for security.
Please enter the file transfer password to decrypt the file."
Then there's a space to enter the password.
The really odd thing is that when this same problem happened before, another Accountants Copy was created a few weeks later and it was saved as a file and opened without any problem. No password required. We thought it might be because the client upgraded to Quickbooks 2011 before creating the 2nd copy.
But now its happened again!
I called Intuit when it happened the first time and they thought it might be a glitch in the software. They wanted us to send a copy of the full set of books to them, but we didn't get around to it yet.
Any ideas?
Sorry, no idea where to start looking at all ... but I am not a certified QuickBooks Advisor. All I can think of is:
Is your version and accountant's the same? Could the password be the one you use to open your file normally? Could the password be blank and you just hit the enter key?
I do know that there are some file transfer services that accept large files. The information is uploaded and downloaded in an encrypted environment to keep it secure.
I don't recommend emailing any confidential financial information as emailing is like sending a post card through Canada Post ... anyone who knows how can read it.
Have you tried Intuit's listing of Certified Advisors in your area? Maybe they would know ... or perhaps the Intuit forum.
